My 2003 geartronic T5 is now due its 60k mile service and i have had a search to see what this entails but with not much luck. Theres a high performance car specialist next to us who is highly regarded as the best for miles around but he mainly does high end BMW's so id like to go in knowing these:-

Id like to change the engine oil - which is best for the T5?
Also id like to change the auto box oil - which is best for the box?
Is it worth me doing the timing belt now?
will the Diff oil need doing or is that part of the auto box oil change?

Just so i dont get ripped off! :)

Always worth doing the timing belt and tensioner if you have the funds, although the interval I believe is 8 years or 90,000 miles (which ever comes first). As for the other stuff, I'm not sure so perhaps someone can offer some suggestions.

interval for cambelt is 10 yrs or 96k whichever first. my 03 '53' 2.0T (same engine but smaller) has 5W30 fully synthetic in it

Oil is 10/40 semi. I wouldn't risk 96k on the same belt (although mine managed 120) I don't know about the tranny oil but it would be best to buy it from a Volvo stealer as putting the wrong stuff in that box could be catastrophic :(

I'll book the car with them next week and get a price for the cambelt at the same time, What is the usual cost of a cambelt on a T5? I know labour rates are different from garage to garage, but just a ball park figure would do.

I was quoted about £450 incl new water pump, tensioner, aux drive belt

For my C70 T5, and my 2.0 S60, I paid about £100 in genuine Volvo parts and the garage charged me about £80 labour. It's only about an hours job if you know what you are doing.

Id like to change the engine oil - which is best for the T5? On that engine it should be 5W/30 Fully synthetic. That's what the dealer would put in.
Also id like to change the auto box oil - which is best for the box? Use Genuine Volvo transmission oil
Is it worth me doing the timing belt now? I think you'll find the interval is 80k? Don't quote me on that, but your service book will say.
will the Diff oil need doing or is that part of the auto box oil change? volvo won't replace diff oil. They normally say its lasts the life of the box, which is bolox. Change it if you want to. It won't hurt it. Just make sure you use the correct stuff, again, i'd stick with the Volvo diff oil...it's pretty good.

Use Genuine parts is always the best policy and have an Indy do it. Then you won't get ripped off. However, i'd speak to your local dealer as they may give you a special discount or preferential rate seeing as your car is old (in their eyes). I get a between 25% and 55% discount....depending on what i'm having done.
