Yep your pub gossip sounds OK for once, speak to T5Steve. His 850 has been running Mondeo wheels for a while.

ET is german for insertion depth, ie offset.

I've just been reading up on wheel et and its a bit confusing . am I right thinking I will need a wheel spacer of about 15- 20mm or am I being an idiot and completely misunderstanding wheel et ? if I am I suppose I could always ask down at the pub LOL

no, you are right, you'll need spacers. Please buy hubcentric ones as the 20mm piece of steel with longer bolts idea doesn't work on a car the weight of a 940

sorry another silly question . whats hubcentric ?

Basically the spacer sits on the existing hub like your wheel would, then the spacer has another hub onto which the wheel sits.....if that makes sense!

The larger spacers (20-25mm) can have an extra bolt set, so you bolt the spacer to the hub, then bolt the wheel to the spacer....again, if that makes sense?!

yes that make a lot of sense . less stress on the wheel nuts and better location of the wheel. where would I get my hand on a set of spacers ? thanks for the advice

Mondeo rims will fit PCD-wise.

The centre bore I believe is smaller (63.4mm opposed to 65.1mm I think), so will need opening out.

Offset is too high on Mondeo (same as 850/V70/etc) - around 43mm. 940's need around 20-25mm. I'm using H&R DRM Hubcentric spacers on mine with Titans (850R wheels).

I have heard of people using Mondeo steels, and cutting the centre out, and flipping it round and re-welding it. So, essentially using the wheel backwards with the centre turned the right way so the nuts still locate. I am not recommending this way, as you would need to get things very straight and have confidence in your welding!!
