......so the king, sorry god, of all Volvo alloys, have been refurbed (bloody expensive one too!) in a beautiful silver on black....resulting a wheel that has soooooo much depth and curiosity to it that I don't want to put them on a car, might just put them on the wall ;)

I had them fully checked for cracks, buckles, flat spots etc....luckily all 5 were ok and any minor inaccuracies sorted. The rims have been cut for a consistent edge too.

To say I'm happy with them would be an understatement, when I get them all out of the boxes I will take some more, but for now here's one....

Want!!!

Are these for a 7/9 series or for an 850/V70? I know someone local with an 850 tdi with Polaris on - they're a suprisingly good fit with just lipped arches.

Sorry for mega delayed response, not been on here for a few days!

The wheels are RWD offset ET20, so they stick out a lot further than the FWD wheels (ET43?), hence the 850 had its inner arches rolled and the liners trimmed. Funny thing is there were no problems with arch rub on the insides, so I think ET20 + rolled arches should be standard!!

They were optional extras for 7/900 Volvo's as for best place to look I would recommend every where, they are very very rare I think last set I saw was in Europe and they sold for over 1k

You can get elkers from Norway but they are not cheap and they are also half an inch wider too than Polaris .

Mark, didn't realise it was you! Don't come on this forum too often! Shame you haven't got the coal burner anymore - was a nice car! Didn't the Comet's look lost in those rolled arches? Were they the 7J or 7.5J?

I take it the Polaris are going on your black one now? Still haven't actually seen that one!

Hi Steve, yes these are your old wheels and yes the 850 has been sold on with my comets on. Unfortunately though, the guy who I sold it to had to sell it on shortly after and the new owner didn't seem to be bothered about keeping in touch with the prevoius owners who put time and care into it! I did ask for my details to be sent on to the new owner, possibly if he could've joined this site to continue the show threads I started, but he seemed to be rather boring!!

Hope all is well mate!

Mark

Haha, I did wander if you'd payed attention to the fact I'm in Stourbridge.....I highly doubt if there is another set of Polaris in the local area!

The comets were from my V70R so 7J, however they did sit ok in the arches, like any other FWD setup. Could poss do with some spacers if picky, have a look for yourself

The Polaris won't fit over the AP brakes on my R though mate, but I'm considering putting them on my 740 which has been outside Steves on a couple of occasions when I've seen your car there, not sure if you've seen it either though, have a look here....

If I see your motor next time I'm around I'll knock the door!

Yeh, good point about 2 sets of Polaris in the West Midlands! Comets look good - little lost in the rear arches though maybe!

That is a very nice 740, haven't noticed it outside Steve's - didn't even realise you had one! Definitely needs slamming on the Polaris though...or maybe you'd like to swap the Polaris for some Titans with spacers! ;)

Agree with the comments about the "wallowy" chassis. Mine's handling better now, but still not as good as I'd like it to be. One of my main issues is the boat anchor under the bonnet I think! At least the redblock is a bit lighter!
