Just a wondering if anyone had a 19t on an auto pre me7 if so what is it like?Or is an 18t is a better option.

If you have the correct mapping that anything is possible, i found on my auto that my 16T was more than capable... they can produce oommpppphhhh lower down the rev range where you need it and with supporting mods i doubt you'd be that far off your goal BHP targets

My 855R had a 19T on it for a while, just before I sold it. 19T is a very capable turbo & with the right mapping can do very well.

R u doing a custom map?Let us know your figure. There was a V70R on ebay last week pre me7 custom mapped with 296bhp dyno print and it is a stock 16t auto.I wonder how much a custom map is for pre me7?

If your not going to have forged rods with a 19t, then you MUST get the mapping spot on.

also i'd definatly get the aux cooler for the box if you do go for a 19t, its less than £300, so worth the extra protection for your box.

why would you need forged rods with a 19T - I ran 320bhp without them. Woody runs even more.

Yours and deans aren't autos though, are they. Many people have bent a rod on an auto running a lot less power than a 19t can give.

Yes it was. My 855R was an auto. Admittedly I never got that far with it but it had nothing to do with the transmission.

If your old auto 850 was running 320bhp on standard rods, i doubt they would have lasted long. Did your 850 have 320bhp then?

no it didnt - but the rods are the same for both transmissions. There is no technical reasons why you can't run a 19t on an automatic.

Yes they are the same rods and yes you can run a 19t on an auto, but its the way an automatic can change gear, that will cause the issue, things like wot gear changes especially in kickdown will cause issues.
You also have to treat it as stupid as it will quite happily kickdown into 1st gear at 30mph, on full throttle, given too much pressure.

As i have said, i have read of people bending a rod on an auto with a 15g just by fitting an mbc.

less not forget the op question, and the simple fact that a 19t only came on an auto car, albeit a 5 speed one

True, on a 2.4 with a 5spd auto that would have had a lot of work put into by volvo themselves, to make sure that it was reliable.

Also the car that the 19t came on had 265bhp and 260lb/ft as standard, so running nowhere near what it can and i pretty much doubt anyone is going to go to the trouble of fitting a 19t and not going for any more than 265bhp.

Yeah but that has F/A to do with the turbo & everything to do with the MBC.

Ok then

Kingsford, you can fit a 19t and it'll be fine, don't worry about your rods......i'm sure they'll be ok.

Got my car back yesterday, 18t and appropriate bits to get best out of it, and.......... it doesn't feel any different, slightly more go top end but lost a bit further down revs, I have a set route on a dual carriageway near my house, sign to sign to see what speed I can get to and it was exactly the same... 128 kph :) on my satnav.

He had a brand new 16t.

Imho the 15g/16t work perfect with auto's, you need that quick spool and instant grunt with the auto box, i love my mrs v70t5 auto wish it was mine would swop it straight away for my saffy lol
