Hi guys just need to know the easiest way to tell if my pick up really got a T5-R engine in it?it goes like a rocket and previous owner told me the T5 engine was replaced by a T5-R unit years ago?
What colour the injectors should be? or anything else to look for
Thanks

The only difference between the two was the ECU iirc.

Afaik the T-5R engine was exactly the same as the T5, just a different ecu. Manual 850R had white injectors and a 16t turbo instead of a 15g.

Niiice!

It's probably so quick because of the lack of weight. The rear seats alone are about 60-70 Kg, then there's the rear doors - about 40KG each, glass etc. Power to weight ratio must be pretty good ;)

Not a bad idea tho Pedro - won't have to worry about the sharp edges on the door frame failing an MOT.

With that in mind...

How difficult would it be to shorten BT into a 2 seater? You'd save about 200Kg ;)

what most people dont know is that the T5 is the engine not the car, then you have the models, glt gle ,cd, se and R for example all have the t5 engine

I've seen this advertised on eBay I'm sure, it was white & covered in advertising. I would call it more of a ute. I'm a big fan of the Australian Holden Maloo.

The white one was freshly made last month and had a manual box,and back window from the tailgate was fitted on the bulk head did not look as nice, mine was on ebay as well 6 months ago ,was done in Surrey 7 years ago and all the fillers still good so well built and welded lol

Think the T5 bit is just designating the engine as the higher power Turbo 5 cylinder. I know the engine codes have got different T numbers in them depending on the state of tune ('normal' T5 B5234T, T5r B5234T3, 850R B5234T4) but the engines are basically the same.

T number denotes the "generation" of the engine iirc.T3 stopped when they stopped using ME7.1 (my engine) I think the T3 started with the non-ME7 C70 but even the T3 has had a few tweaks in it's lifetime (crank being a big one).
