RICA will be at the Autosport show this year!!! :)

Date: 12th - 15th Jan 2006

We will be manning the stand with RICA as Chip Tuning Ltd, so if anyone want to come for a chat, we would love to see you. It's also an opportunity to talk to the main RICA man himself, and a fuels expert from Shell Fuel Developments, to answer all your techy questions!

I've put the event down in the calendar, so this time there is plenty of advanced notice.

It's a decent enuff day out, altho if you want live action tickets too there in allocated slots and the day will cost you about £40.

The countdown has begun to the world’s premier motosport exhibition. On 14-15 January 2006, the NEC in Birmingham will become the capital of motor racing, with exhibits from all disciplines of the sport on display under one roof.

Adam I think you got it wrong it aint from the 12-15, just 14th and 15th. well thats what the home page says!!

I go every year its well worth going.
Mainly go for the short circuit/small oval part of the exhibition,
as im a total stock car nut (used to race myself)
Its worth looking at the short circuit live action show at the end of the day.
Its different to the shows you see in the day time and they hold proper races.

I went yesterday with Engineer and ChrisC70 great day out, nice selection of old F1 cars, and the really early pre WW2 cars, boy those cars are rare,
Go visit the live show great hour of fun, only Volvo we saw inside was a 122 which is donkeys old, Adam was busy chatting when we walked past so didn't bother him,
take your own lunch quite dear in there and food was crap and the place will be mobbed on public days,

Well, one thing I’ll say for Autosport 2006 :- IT’S BIG!! If you’re going, get signed in, get a show guide, get a coffee and then sit down and plan a route round all the stuff you really want to see. This will then take twice as long as you’d think, due to all the other interesting stuff you find enroute!

There’s loads of cars to look at, half the VW cup seems to be spread across various stands for one. There’s a completely mental Mk1 Golf on the HK engineering stand (hall 6) which is worth a look, rear wheel drive & stupid amount of horsepower.

Pretty much anything you might want is in there somewhere, I came back with a new helmet, new torque wrench, and a new socket set for t’other half. Plus a GPS/PDA sat nav box which I got a really good deal on.

As you’d expect, there is the traditional collection of young lustettes wandering about, several wearing skirts that are no more than pelmets with ambition. Quite what the link between free flowing cats, sticky tyres, remote reservoir dampers, race pistons and PVC clad girls is eludes me. However, I’ll not be complaining.

The other thing that’s going to slow you up will be the unexpected number of people you know that you will bump into. I ran into ten other drivers from our championship, the first within 5mins of walking into the show. Of course this requires a chat and a quick one in the refreshment area!

If anyone is thinking about having a crack at this racing malarkey, there’s loads of championships with stands there (LMA Eurosaloons are in hall 6 on Stand 6682) also the organising clubs have details of most championships. Have a look at 750 Motor Club (CM8) and the BRSCC (10240).

LEDA suspension were very helpful. I use their stuff on the Nova, and can’t fault it. One of their chaps took the time to go through the V70 idea with me in great detail. Roll Centre were also helpful after the bloke stopped laughing! AP Racing also have all the bits for a track V70 off the shelf.

All in all well worth a visit, but I’d have been better off taking two days over it. There’s a LOT to see!
