As it says i was driving home the other night and as i put my foot down to overtake a berk in a merc she almost stalled and them the power came back in but not to its full amount.
After another 6miles of normal non merc overtaking driving the ETS light decided to rear its head :(

So off down my mates garage to remove and clean
Not the easiest job to start with but once off it was so simple to replace and now know a quicker way to do this process

as you can see it was bogging in there so cleaned it out and refitted

at first she ran like crap but no ETS light on :)
we bleed the fuel rail as there was air in there and she started running much sweeter
after a nice long drive shes running much better even if, every now and then she hunt for an idle but NO ETS light

only code coming up after all this is still my MAF problem so will have to get a proper bosch one not this crap ebay copy

only thing that peeded me off was the day at the garage was supposed to be for doing my lowering springs and tinting windows but ended up doing the above :(

I know what you mean my trip to HLM yesterday ended up costing me double what i originally went there for but today all things considered money well spent i think and now hopefully a few k's trouble free motoring. keep the faith!

I sympathise here, there's nothing worse than engine issues! I hope you get this sorted soon and it may just be a MAF issue and not the ETM.....

By the way, why did you remove/loosen the inlet manifold? To remove the ETM you can just unbolt it from underneath?

Im not being funny Geoff, you posted on VOC about the MAF problem, i offered you 2 MAFS both working and one only 6 weeks old Genuine from Volvo.

As for the stalling thats probably related, as said on VOC YOU NEED TO GET THE CODES READ WITH VOLVO VIDA DICE.

just so you know a failing ETM often throws up a failing throttle pedal which on a generic code reader comes up as MAF sensor.

cool cheers fella
did have codes read on the volvo kit when i was just the engine management light on and the volvo guy pointed straight to my copy cheapy maf
as the ets light had only just come on in the last day or 2 i thought the 2 problems wouldn't have been the same item causing it, especially after cleaning all out and it running sweet all be it for less than 24 hrs
will defo have the unspecified maf off you though. and will have to suck it and see about finding a tidy etm
pm me paypal details and will get you cash in there:)
cheers again

no worries mate, these ETMs are well over priced at £150, if you can be without your car for a few days contact spoznik over on VOC, he maybe a member here as well, he does a contactless conversion for about £120 on your original ETM. Also there are several other items that can cause the ETM and engine light to come on, brake pedal sensor (cylinder thing in the servo under bonnett), clutch sensor and throttle pedal.
