A guy where I work has a nearly new V40 and apparantly he's on his 3rd heater motor unit already. Apparantly, the blower motors keep 'burning out' although I think that might be a bit melodramatic, however that said one thing is for sure and that is he's had to take the car back twice under warranty to get the blower motor changed.
This might be one of these "known faults" with the new V40's that will just go on to the list of "problems with these cars" that get circulated by owner drivers. Anyway, for those buying a new V40, just keep an eye out for this potential problem and you never know, Volvo may issue a recall on this soon!
