Are the piston that are fitted in the B4204t5 engine the same as the ones fitted into the B5244t5 engine ?

Well the postman delivered these today

And as you can see the piston are the same,

The only difference is that the one on the right is 83mm dia while the one on the left is 81mm,
Instead of boring the block out too 81.4mm and spending £600 on pistons
I`m boring the block out to 83mm and spending £160 on pistons & rings

Leaving £440 in your back pocket, ya must be a happy bunny.

The £440 will pay for the forged rods :)

I would just get a 2435 block then all sorted mate nice though.i used s60r rods and pistons in my 2435 block no probs at all and also drops the compression ratio too.

Is 83mm not pushing the thiness between the bores a bit far?

its the same diameter as the S60R engines & i've never heard of them having any trouble, oh hang-on lol

It will be fine :)

The 2.4 engine is also 83mm.

The liners are only a problem when stupid boost pressures are run.

But you will shim it anyway, I assume.

have to disagree with you there, quite a few standard cars have had the liners go

With a displacement of 2,319cc, the four-valve per cylinder engine is derived from the
2.5-litre normally aspirated unit found in the 850 GLT.
This reduction in capacity has been achieved by reducing the bore to 81 mm (the same
as that in the 2-litre unit) with the stroke remaining unchanged at 90 mm. The
compression ration is set at 8.5:1.
This reduction in capacity enables a larger space between the cylinders and so increased
heat transfer - essential to achieve the higher cooling volume that is required in a
turbocharged engine.
they should of stuck to what they knew back then lol
