You need to give it a good run once a week to get it up to temp,if the light comes on go for a good run right away so it can do a burn.
Have read about engine oil levels that rise cos diesel getting into sump.

Oh dear, that's not so good. I believe you will also have an additive tank on that model (eloys) that will need refilling although it won't be very often, probably every 50,000 miles or so depending on use, (the additive is injected into the fuel tank every time you open the filler cap.). A word of warning, do not skimp on the oil changes or quality of oil or grade on these engines. The engine is a PSA derived lump and has severe reliability problems. Most problems are directly linked to poor servicing or incorrect oil grades being used (you must use a 'C' grade oil). The turbo's tend to fail first due to oil starvation (no turbo manufacturers will warrant a replacement turbo on these engines without almost stripping and rebuilding the engine !) and engine seizures are quite common. Be fastidious with your servicing (oil change every 6000 miles preferably) and you should be okay. If you think I'm being a bit mean my apologies but if you look in my signature you will see the ticking time bomb my wife now drives !

I would +1 this. Not very strong at all. They arent so bad when installed in a small car and not subject to working too hard.

Sorry fella, didn't want to scare you, just I've fitted dozens of turbo's to vehicles fitted with these motors and we've had a few with knackered timing chain tensioners (yup, they have a belt and a chain !) and a 58 plate Focus currently sits in our yard with a seized engine months after we changed the turbo, non had covered more than 80k. My C4 has nearly 110k on it and I'm waiting for something to happen, I think the only reason it hasn't yet is that it has full dealer service history up till 100k and the previous owner was practically paranoid with his servicing and changed the oil every 6k rather than the recommended 12k (hence my advice to you !). On the plus side there is also thousands of vehicles happily running around without any problems and I'm sure the failure rate seems higher because the engines are used in so many vehicles (Citroen, Peugeot, Ford, Volvo, Mini to name but a few) so don't panic just look after it and enjoy it !

Certainly a crap engine, although turbos for those are quite cheap these days, but will require new feeds etc, Regular oil changes and use C3 grade 5/30 should keep you safe. :)

Trouble we are getting is that replacement turbo's come with a list of criteria that has to be met before they will warrant the turbo. Replacement feed and return lines are no problem (I also remove the gauze filter that is installed in the feed line, as far as I'm concerned dirty oil reaching the core is still preferable to no oil at all if the filter blocks !) but they also require removal of the sump, replacement of the oil pick up, replacement of the oil pump, removal and complete cleaning of the intake pipes,inlet manifold, breathers, egr system, intercooler the list goes on. Our customers just aren't going to pay for that amount of work to warrant a 300 quid turbo. Citroen themselves won't warrant a replacement turbo unless it comes with A NEW ENGINE ATTACHED ! (seriously !). It's a shame because the engine itself isn't that bad, quite small compact and powerful, It will be interesting to see what mileage I can get out of my C4 with regular maintenance before something catastrophic happens ! (could be worse, mine doesn't have a dpf or additive tank and at least it's not a VAG 2.0 tdi !)
