Realistically what is a reasonable size for wheel spacers for a 99 C70? without going to extremes.

If you're getting spacers, then make sure you get hubcentric ones. This ensures the weight of the car is not carried on the wheel bolts but on the hub. I was told that hubcentric spacers start at 10mm & that anything over 20mm will prematurely cause the wheel bearings to fail.

I'm fitting 12mm spacers front and rear tomorrow.

I had planned to fit 25mm all round on my c70 but after fitting coilovers i think 25 on the front isnt going to happen with 235/40/17...maybe 15mm, 25mm is easy on the back
im thinking of rolling it out on the front with 25mm to tuck them in.

As stephenevans says husentric... even worse a wheel could come off, thats why ive opted out of extended bolts even with hubsentric spacers and gone for a stud conversion.... they are high tensile 12.9 rock solid and will also fit tight into the hub and spancer, then the wheel locked on with some pretty purple forged alloy nuts

i wont know what size i need until i have some new wheels just looking at my options. So 25mm hubcentric with extended bolts seems to be ok? as a maximum.

Thanks guys

Here's a thread from Swedespeed regarding C70 wheel spacers - a few nice pics too showing the results:

Here's a handy little offset calculator, ideal for measuring up what spacers you'll need when getting new wheels. (http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator) ;)

So am i right in thinking Less offset will put my wheels lip nearer the arch and further from the suspension leg?

so according to the calculator going from a canisto 7.5j ET38 to a 8j ET 32 will give me a 12mm greater track width and the same clearance to the suspension leg?....i will get my head around this eventually!

By the sounds of it yeah, in other words you won't need spacers! ;)

might need some narrow ones on the back but its upped the wheel budget by a few quid i think:wink:
