Hi ppl, im new to this, so be nice.

I drive an S60 D5 on a 52 plate.

When i get upto around 2.5 x 1000 revs, i hit a soft spot and power goes. I get a message saying "engine service required", which obv i am going to get. But if i turn engine off and start up again, the message goes and the power is back. This doesnt happen all the time. Any ideas?

Clean the mixer pipe - probably full of crap.

As Martin said, clean the mixer pipe.

I had this problem, cleaned the mixer pipe, no improvement but worth doing.
Exact same symptoms, would pull fine up to 2500 rpm then would rev no higher.
Started as an intermittent fault then became a daily issue.

Replacing the MAF solved it.
MAF sensor not cheap though, Ray Chapman Volvo quoted £404 and then agreed to £278 after some haggling bless `em.
Been running fine ever since.
Changing the fuel filter is also worthwhile if it`s not been done in a while.

Mine is also a 2002 S60 D5 (146000 miles)
