After looking at recent threads about cleaning cars, today I cleaned both of mine and thought I'd show you the results and what I used. I'm probably like most on the forum, I like my cars to look at there best, but I don't spend a fortune on products but want good results with not to much effort. I'm fortunate that with my job I get to stock a lot of the brand leading products and get to try out samples. Today was a nice fresh bright day so perfect for cleaning. Started at 9am.

These were the only products I used.

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s29/MIKEST5R/CONCERTO/M3-AUDI/IMG_2657_zpsd97f2d1d.jpg

First the cars were washed with the gold class shampoo using a grit guard bucket from Meguiars which when you put the wash mitt in the dirt goes to the bottom of the bucket. Both cars were then rinsed off with the hose and dried using a Meguiars towel which just soaks up the water. The Audi had a lot of road tar along the bottom panels and rear bumper so I used the Meguiars paint cleaner to remove this which was very easy work. Now I have a vast array of polishes and waxes but because I had two cars to do I really didn't fancy using cutting compound, polish then a wax so out came the Muc-Off Miracle Shine. This is a swirl remover/polish and a wax all in one. Very easy to put and on and very very easy to take off and I highly recommend it as the finish is excellent. Nil glass for the windows inside and out applied with a micro fibre cloth. Autoglym bumper care for the black plastics. Meguiars endurance gel for the tyres and finally PoorBoys wheel sealant for the wheels.
Under the bonnet I just sprayed Autoglym engine cleaner over everything and just lightly rinsed off with the hose pipe. As you can see nothing special and nothing costs a fortune. Everything done by hand. Insides just wiped down with a damp cloth.

Hope you like,

Some more of the M3

The BMW has leather and real suede not alcantera interior so you have to be careful what you use so as not to stain it.

Where's the other car then Mike?

BTW - beemer looks stunning, as always (and, as said before, I'm not a beemer fan, but there's something about this one) :D

Very nice place to sit, upgraded s-line leather just needs a damp cloth to keep clean.

The overstuffed golf isn't for me either but this isn't about my opinion - great work there mate, was there any clay bar work required? That's a clean looking shine.

The point of the thread was not about people liking or not liking my taste in cars lol, but what can be achieved with very little outlay on products. No claying done as that takes ages and the paint on both cars was generally okay, just some tar spots on the Audi which the paint cleaner took care of. I started at 9am and finished at 2pm so not to bad. My camera skills are not brilliant, in the flesh the sparkle in the Audis metallic really stands out.
If I wanted to spend another hour on two on them I would put some proper wax sealant on top so to make less work next time as they would just need a good shampoo. The miracle shine polish/wax really impressed me and its only about £14 a bottle.

A friend has a same age Golf and the interior quality isn't even close to the Audis. The dash feels strong and feels like it will last forever where the Golf is tinny and plasticky in comparison. There's a resounding clunk when the doors are closed and both my kids and the dog haven't managed to break anything in it yet and I've had it 4 years now.

They look absolutely mint, especially the BM! I can tell you cleaned the Beemer first because there's dew on the bonnet but the A3 is dry meaning you'd just finished with the polishing cloth.. :D

It's amazing, some people drive round in car with mud up to the windows, dirt all in their carpets, piles of dust on every interior trim surface and then on the opposite end of the scale there's drivers like us who valet their cars to death. :)

Depressing bit about living in this country is the crap weather we have plus both cars get used daily so by the end of the week no doubt they will be dirty again. I should of taken before pictures really as both were really caked in dirt etc.

They have indeed come up well. I found, after a good wax/sealer, when I wash it next, before I dry it, spraying demonshine on the wet paint brings the shine right back and restores the "beading" properties that shampoo can affect. Just my 2 penneth...

That was the reasons for the thread, little money spent and not to much effort and not to much time can get good results. Obviously doing more stages and using a d/a machine would get better results but like you say, only one car a day would get done and like most people, we have other things to do.

What stuff are you using on your wheels just now? I run out of my usual expensive black fire stuff and nipped out and bought the auto glym stuff, can't remember what it's called but its none acidic the stuff foams and sticks to the wheels which I really liked.

In my opinion it's better then the Meguiars " cleaner wax paste " but it is more expensive.

Strong stuff but never been disappointed with the original Autoglym wheel cleaner but its strong stuff so if your wheels arn't in good nick I'd avoid it and use the one you are using. PoorBoys is a good one, but its expensive as its in a litre bottle so I went threw a bottle pretty quick as its a spray on.
