I spent the entire day fault finding on my auto v70r to find out my mass air flow meter was broken, was a little heart breaking when it started roughly this morning. I have replaced it with another one off of an 850 t5, will it make my v70 run any differently or are the parts the same? The last two digits on part numbers were different, one being 2A and the replacement being 2B. I now have the flashing UP arrown on the dash and the electrical fault warning light is on, will these disappear after a reset or is it all linked to something else?

Try cleaning your original one with brake/carb cleaner see if that solves anything.

Isn't the flashing arrow A gearbox fault light, so won't be engine related I'm afraid

just had a read of google with regards to flashing arrow, sorted that light now! for future reference, if the auto box seems fine but the light flashes, put the key to on position without starting the car, move the gear lever between P and D about 10 times, this turns the flashing arrow off! just to get electrical failure lamp turned off now.
