Hi, not long had my volvo v70 and got the above message, tht was yesterday. This morning the engine symbol came on, which according to the book is an emissiin fault. Can anyone tell me if this is a minor or major issue. I have had performance cars before and always knew wot it needed.

Its an auto, Santa.

Computer has been reset now, just got to keep an eye on it. Apparently Volvo say they dont change the transmission fluid ever.

they may not have a specific mileage to replace fluid, but it may need replacing, there is plenty across the forums (Here. T5D5 and VOC) about flushing, and whatever you do, if you do flush, is use GENUINE FLUID, 12 litres is about 150 quid, cheaper fluid (better/equivalent or whatever people try and tell you) budget 2500 for box replacement.

you will read about people having gearbox service/flushed etc by a specialist, then have problems - in the past 10 odd years I've been around forums, I haven't found one that involves use of genuine fluid, I have always flushed mine with genuine, and never had a problem, and I do take my cars on track.

At main dealer it's about £200 with a software update.
They did my auto 18 months ago the fluid was very dirty it should be red in colour and clear,
Google a search for the dipstick on the gearbox it's at the front of the box very low down not easy to find it its yellow in colour bit will be dirty with road dirt.

Is it a simple case of draining fluid via dipstick and then refilling or is there a drain plug? Going to purchase an evacuation pump and some oil on payday to change mine
