Im sorry if im getting the wrong end of the stick here,

but why would you need lights on in the day? (apart from fog) and i think they run 100% all the time, atleast mine do.

I guess you're referring to the "dim-dip" system which dims the headlights when in day running mode (engine running and main headlight switch off).

What year is your V70?

If its a P1 on the light swith there is a little screw type thing for a little flat screw drive just turn it the opposite way that`ll turn them of on say light.

Some of the 850`s when you had the day running lights on It powered up the side lights and head lights,
but the head lights got a reduced voltage which made them give out only 70% of they light.
My donor car has this but you can`t turn the day running lights off.
It run HID`s you would have to leave the head light switch turned to the head light position.

My 940 had the 70% light (dim-dip) system, there was a box under the dash that controlled it, I just unplugged it and the system was disabled. The headlights still worked from the main switch. Not sure if this is the case with the 850s though.

In other words, at 70% brightness the lights don't work properly due to lack of power, so do they need to be set at 100% brightness to work properly? I knew my PHD in double dutch would come in handy! :D

HIDs need full power to work correctly, 70% would cause the ballast to surge, giving a flicker. Good for flushing-out epileptics :D
