hi fellow volvoholics ive got myself a v70 t5 auto estate its great needs a few minor jobs doing has the cd interior with the wood trim and all the toys so im happy i have a wood rim steering wheel off an 850 t5 that would def be an upgrade visually and i thought it would be a 30 minute job - trouble is im stuck on removing the old one? has anyone done this here? i know the 850 had allen keys behind - this v70 has normal hexagon nuts but i cant seem to get a socket to fit yet !!!!!! - starting to pull my hair out and im going thin on top as it is! HELP!

T25 torx key mate.
You need the steering lock off and turn the wheel to get better access. Make sure you mark the top position on the spigot so your steering doesn't go squiffy ;)

"Alen" is a brand, like biro, hex is its proper name :)

The 850 t5 didn`t come with a wooden steering wheel but the 960 did which fits as that whats on mine :)

thanks for all the replies guys - its def a hex nut not a torx - will have a go tommorrow morning - wasnt the wood rim steering wheel a volvo option when the 850 came out or was it purely for the 960,s ? ive heard it was 400 quid at the time !!!!

The v70 is torx, dunno about the 850 but I have a v70 wheel on my lap as I type...

Although looking at it, it may be a T30/35 not a T25

as someone who has put a v70r wheel on an 850r i can say that they are both exactly the same TORX
