On my P1 I have the above and was wondering if its worth replacing them with a normal shocks.I think the nivomats r rougher on the road than normal or am I wrong?

Just to straighten something out - mine were plod spec nivs. With a different part number to standard p2 nivs. They made the back sit very high, as you all know lol.
KG, yours probably won't be any better off by changing to standard shocks, unless as above, you're gonna lower it.

And think of all the weight you can carry with nivs! ;)

No intention to lower tbh `cos she sits just right and no it not high at all.I`ve seen the dust covers need changing cos the ripped but no leaks, just was wondering if normal shocks would make it smoother on the road.

Maybe a little smoother - nivs have a habbit of making the car hop if you hit a bump while cornering.

Aren't the rear top mounts nivomat specific? Or can you use them with non nivomat shocks?

On a P2, you can just throw standard shocks in the niv mounts but not nivs in standard mounts as niv mounts are reinforced.

no you have to change them on 850/V70 classics

I've been told different things about the nivomat top mounts, some people have said they can be used with after market shocks and that they are actually more sturdy.

Others have said the top mounts need to be changed.....

I'm hoping to change the nivomats to standard shocks this weekend so I guess I'll find out!

I had to change my top mounts when I ditched my nivs.

if you do swop from Nivomats make sure you change to the relevant springs as well. Nivomat springs are very soft (due to the shock doing most of the work) & won't be happy with non-Nivomat shocks

Thanks, I've bought the adjustable koni kit so hopefully it'll work well.

Fingers crossed
