Cant believe it! Just put three of my 4 new 18"'s on, and I cant undo the last Locking Wheel nut! Seized solid! So much in fact, that my locking wheel nut removal tool is ££££ed! Has this happened to anyone else, and what did they do?????

Pleeeaassseeeeee, my car looks crap from one side!!! :slap:

Well, mine are the standard Volvo ones i think, with the flower type pattern in the middle! Can ramming a socket over the end help on these, or is it a special tool job?? Im going to Quick Fit tomorrow to have all the wheels balanced, as Ive got some vibration. Wonder if they can sort it????

Heres piccys I took tonight

Good luck with it mate, This has happened so many times, I always do my locking nuts up by hand don't let the tyre guys wind them up with the air guns,
Touch wood it hasn't happened to me yet, I have the 3 pin type locking wheel nuts, I don't know which ones are the best.

Ill second that being the second most recent victim of the dreaded knackered locking nut syndrome myself! :slap: (See "my s60 plans thread"!)

I spoke to a Volvo dealer yesterday about it.....They see it all the time and just go at them with a hammer and chissel! :jaw:

When my locking key broke on the Mcguard locking nuts only way could get the locking nut off without destroying the alloy wheel was to weld another nut on the end then un bolt that one!

I've spoken to a few members about this and is it really worth fitting the locking wheel nuts when the idiot thats nicking your wheels already knows where to find the tool and just needs to break a window to get it?I'm sure breaking the window really wouldn't put anybody off as they are willing to jack the car up and nick the wheels in plain view.

As an AA patrol I come across this quite alot.Firstly the sockets with the left handed thread don.t work on harden steel locking nuts like genuine volvo ones. Two options, hammer a socket on and use a impact gun to buzz off or call out the AA as we have a locking wheel nut tool that works well on hardened steel .Have not seen any other companies with this tool. Cheers and good luck...Dan

I guess its like any other security measure, its just a deterrant.

If anyone wants to nick something bad enough they'll find a way to take it regardless of security. :icon_soap
