Which auto box fluid?

Never had auto before so here it is,97 v70 t5 4speed.As it needs the fluid changing need yr help guys which fluid to buy.Also is there an advanced one for these?

Anyone had any experience of how long it takes dexron iii to kill the 5 speed auto box on a 1999 V70R phase 3 fitted with the AW55-50 gearbox?

Garage i used have put the dexron in with out realising its a different box on the phase 3 that requires jws3309 spec oil. If i'm honest having only had the car a few weeks i didn't know either till i was told but thats why i took it to a "Volvo specialist". I have driven about 400-500 miles since it was incorrectly filled, mainly motorway cruising but i have gone for a few "drives" to see what she can do.

The car ain't going anywhere till its changed but will that amount of driving have caused any major damage?

I`ve googled it and came up as dextronIII but diff brands etc. apparantly castrol is the best,found this on ebay.

As much as I resent saying it - maybe Volvo stuff is the way to go? It may be expensive but you'll get the right stuff for your box.

they quoted me a good price for pcv kit so lets c how much is the fluid.

go with the Volvo one mate not the dex 3 tho and it depends on the year...they will have all the info at the finger tips mate...

I've known people to use landrover extreme weather auto fluid, if you need any let me know and it's yours for postage...

You can put anything in really its just the case of how long it`ll last.Thanx for the offer tho.
