View Full Version : Where's all the T5's at?

Tomcat
Saturday 5th January 2013, 19:33
Is there something I don't know or are 850 T5's getting that rare now?, after realising that there's probably no way I can afford another R (yet at least) I thought I'd have a look for just a T5 instead. After having a look on Ebay there doesn't appear to be any, where the hell are they all?.

Think the 850's are getting rare mate. Being broken for bits, coming to natural ends and those that bought them for winter running.

Maybe look in March?

Took me 3weeks to find one with a half decent spec in manual. Also any 850s including R's will need a few bit doing to get it up to scratch in my opinion.

Seems to happen that way with certain motors. They're everywhere you look and suddenly you don't see them anymore. Even the old 96' laguna estates like the one I sold a few months ago suddenly seem to have dissapeared. When I think back to all the old hum-drum motors I used to have that are suddenly becoming worth something when they turn up on ebay makes me wish I'd kept half of them. I even watched a MK2 Cavalier SRi fetch £3500 on ebay a few months back, I gave one away a couple of years ago !

I hope the Mods will excuse the link going in this thread but in the context, I found this although it has an iffy gearbox. However, there is a replacement gearbox included........

Honda Civic Sport, the Acclaim was just a rebadged Civic saloon but used the Sport engine. The engines a nice unit, all alloy and light enough to lift unaided (I know this because I still have one kicking about in the shed that I keep having to move out of my way !). I'm waiting for the Civic to rise in value so I can sell it and retire on the proceeds (I only intend to live for a few days after I retire !)

Theres an 850 T5 for sale near me in wiltshire for £500. Olive green. 165K, Taxed and tested

I brought an 850 t5 a few months ago for 500 pounds.

Taxed and tested. In good condition.

Since then I have spent about 1200 pounds sorting brakes including stainless braided lines. Polybushing engine bay . service. Replacing brake fluid and may of recommended stage 0 parts.

Had the windows tinted. Winter wheels (already had tyres) and currently have plans for more handling mods. Exhaust and a bit more power.

So I guess the point that im getting at is if you get one and become attached its gunna cost more then just 500 pounds
