850 ecu change

I have bought an rica d ecu. The correct spec for my car. Plugged it in and the car wont start. Although it is turning over and trying to start.

Wat is the correct nethod to change the ecu?

yes, i'd of thought the ecu will be expecting a transponder code for the immobilizer which your car won't have

I think there are 2 different tpes of ECU depending on whether it's a OBDI or OBDII car, I'm sure someone will confirm or deny this.

But thanks to bomb 192. It seems that the ecu is not suitable for a 95 850 t5. The number on the ecu is 0 261 203 851.

After switching off the ignition you must allow 150sec. before removing the ECU to allow the charge to dissipate from the relays and 254sec. if the ECU or vehicle has an immobiliser.

Also any DTC`s should be erased and the adaptive settings reset before placing in another motor,
apparently the engine can run rough with no error`s if this is not carried out.

If you remove it too soon i haven`t a clue what happens but perhaps just change the relays in case they are not 100%??

My 1996 obd2 N reg 850 t5 auto ecu, / Works in my 1994 m obd1 Manual 850 t5, its a HLM ecu.

Well. I went to see jamest5r 2day. And many thanks to him. Learnnt a few things about my car that I didnt know.

He has advised me that my car is odb1. The ecu didnt start in his car. But his car is far from standard. Although it was trying to fire up.

The number on the ecu is 0 261 203 851.

It has been Rica remapped for standard spec. Manual. Running a 15g
