94 reg 850 n/a gearbox wine

just wondering if anyone has had this problem before? my mates 94 reg 850 manual has a noise coming from the gearbox when driving, its not a clunking its like a bearing noise and the sound seems to be coming from the box and not the wheel bearing

Check the gearbox oil level, If it whines in all gears it`s more and likely a dif brg.

Brett if you can wait a week or so i have a 2.5 NA manual box coming in a complete car i will be breaking, i only want the gearstick and little things so the gearbox will be available and it will be cheap....ish!!

Wont the clutch brg make a noise when the clutch is depressed :smile:

Your car was not running right and no one got a good time that day so no comparison really .the car was very quick of the mark and don of kalmor union pulled a 14.2 with less power tan with the same box lol.

The clutch can be noisy when the clutch is not pressed but can go quiet when using the clutch .just putting the idea out there because ive has a few n/a boxes and never had one go or become noisy and I raced them silly in the day lol.

That is my point mate he would have to have shorter gears to put the car in 4th that early to still power like he does because you could not do that with a t5 box because you are going into 4th just by the finish line

I would like to check the number on the box mate because peeps with a similar setup to you cannot get into 4th were you do mate.but don't get me wrong your car is very quick and you are the bench mark for everyone to beat .

yep, thats a standard M56H with the normal T-5's 4.00 FDR. With your limiter at 7k it'll do 185mph (checked all with a gear-ratio calculator)

The power you are getting is what you would expect for that turbo and the other mods you have but I still think its not a t5 box mate.i cannot wait for the new season to see you get into 12s but I will find out if the is a number on the box that identifys what box is what out of interest that's all.

5th = 0.70
@6200 = 164mph, 1mph different from what he said he's getting

edit = just to rub it in. My box has a FDR of 3.57 & a 5th of 0.65 :)

there is a small white rectangular sticker on the box which in the top right corner has the FDR printed onto it, unfortunately being open to the elements most of the stickers either come off or the info comes off

The must be something stamped in the casting too but it wouldn't surprise me if it was just a sticker though
