Which grade? 75w90 / 80w90?

I did google but all I could find was a couple if Norman's talking about putting 5w30 engine oil in there :-/

Cheers

Yep Volvo dont list the SPEC on Vadis of the oil other than to use Volvo part XYZ.

However the exact capacity stated is 2.1 Litres, you will from experience past through struggle to get more than 2.0l in as youll never fully drain the box.

However of past I have used Millers 75w90 Racing oil cheap around £15 a litre or as my Current 850R has in the box Silkolene PRO SRG75 Fully synthetic racing oil but its expensive at £36 a litre.

Ok thanks guys, and the full and drain are by wheel arch at end of the box aren't they?

Yep. Rig up a bottle/funnel with a long hose or you'll be there for ages.

Indeed they are... both 23 or 24mm if I remember correctly and as Martin says unless you want the oil to do everywhere invest in some tubing.

If you take the passenger side front wheel off when changing the oil it is dead easy and you can easily refill through the gap in the subframe above the driveshaft.

The capacity is 2.1 litres

I could only drain out 2litres so 2litres went back in and at £9 per litre for the pucker fully synth from the Volvo Dealer must be cheaper than anywhere?

Thanks for the advice I vaguely remember the M66 on my S60R being the same.

Well five litres on eBay is looking like 27 quid so I would say yes it is cheaper elsewhere :)

Sorry but when I read the title of this thread "M56 Oil Change", I thought you were going to do an oil change on a Motorway in Cheshire.... :hihi: :D

How much would VPC members pay into a pot to see me do that on the hard shoulder and record it and put it on YouTube?

....because I'm not scared so don't tempt me :)
