Would it be wise to get any chip tuning company to remap my t5?does it have to be a volvo spacific tuner?

Use the search function mate.....many maps floating around, all with different reviews.....I don't think a map exists without someone not being happy with it. MTE seem to be a good bet for the p2

HML in bromsgrove / birmingham do pre programmed ecu for as little as £150 for pre me7 cars..... <98 cars. If you take a trip there he does have dyno facilities to and can do full custom remap and perfromance upgrades.

The figures for P2 V70 seem a bit weak - although maybe they're just covering their backs?

How weak?shess 247brake at the mo!wat can expect to see from remap?theres a guy on here with a s60 t5 says he got 304 brake just from remap and small mods?

A pre 2005 t5 will see 280-290 bhp. After then, a 2.4 t5 can make 320 bhp from a remap.

valentino

280bhp would do me,shes fast enough now let alone after remap!lovely car to drive,

150 pounds from hlm bromsgrove average power is around 260 bhp and a big torque improvement too

valentino

The torque figure intrests me more than bhp,its the true power of any car!bought my car for one thousand euro its the fastest car iv had yet,and iv had yet and iv had s500/740i/560sec and its the most practical car iv had!

smithy

The torque will be wild mate it will make you spin the wheels upto 3rd gear no probs mate.i have a 940 so I understand fast cars lol

As this is posted in the phase 2 section, It's safe to presume it's ME7 and a 300 quid map with 280-320 bhp outcome mate. :)

There will be notably more torque, so it'll be wise to get the suspension up to the task too.

Well I thought 280 sounded weak from HLM as Rica quote 310 even for the 2.3!

However, Rica may quote ideal ambient temperatures and premium fuel... Where as HLM may just be a more realistic average figure.

Would a decat, full exhaust system and appropriate map see 300bhp on a 2.3 P2?

Worth remembering the P2 2.3 t5 has stronger internals, vvt, better pistons, better manifolds etc than the older 2.3 T5 lump, meaning its a bit safer to wring a few more ponies from it.

That's good to know :) I thought it was the same tbf!

The VVT on ours is exhaust side only isn't it? R models have inlet too :( more to break though ;)

R and the 2.4 T5 engines with the K24 turbos (B5244T4) have VVT on both sides, ours, as you say, have it on the exhaust side only.

Fountain of knowledge :)

Just out of interest, what's the code for my 2001 T5?

M-R-P
Thursday 27th December 2012, 11:43
B5234T3, same as mine iirc.

B=Petrol
5=No. of cyl.
23=Approximate engine size (2319)
4=No. of valves per cyl
t=Turbocharged
3=Generation of engine
