Hi chaps,

I'm getting a heart (and wallet) breaking 11.9 at the moment. I'm guessing this is in part down to the short runs I am doing so I am not cutting the engine until it has reached mid point on the temp dial after journey. I've only done town runs so far. I have a trip to hitchin on the M1 on Wednesday so I'm hoping to get that up at bit. Is that a standard figure? what are you guys getting?

PS, I'm running on Vpower (It needs the tlc at the moment)

That's really low mate, even on short trips. I sit in traffic for ages going to and from work and I still get a weekly average of 20-23 mpg.

The run down the M1 will give you a better figure. Reset the reading before you set off. You should have an average mpg of 29-36 mpg depending how you drive.

16.8 on mine although the longest journey i do is about 2 miles. a good run should up it nicely

the lowest i recall from BT as an average was 14.7, even tho the CEL light might not be on i'd look at getting the codes read & possibly checking for air leaks

now where's that pic of Bonny's average MPG lol

I was wondering when you'd pop - up Pedro, lol.

I think it'll be hard to guess what's going on, if the car sits in traffic for a few miles and is then left stationary but idling, it could just be a genuine figure and without taking it for a proper run and resetting the display, we just can't say.

A code reader session would show up any major faults but if the MAF is dirty or playing up, it may not have a code to read.

I get between 16-20 mpg on a 10 mile trip to work a day depending on how many times i knock the gaytronic box into manual at traffic lights, on long runs i get about 28-39 depending if my speedo reads triple figures or not (km/h of course)

Its not that low, depending on the circumstances.

I suppose, when a man gets to a certain age, he has to be careful of the cold ;)

I've only been doing stort trips and as the temperature drops so does my MPG from 20 to 16, also smells very rich on startup, whats the most common course of over fueling?

22.2 average for me, mixture of short journeys and the occasional 30mile commute to work. Was 24mpg till I fitted my cone filter, it's an auto too.

I have a 1998 v70 r 177k miles. I used to get an average of 28-33mpg driving normally on a variation of roads. But since having a tune up and Manual boost controller i now get 22-24mpg...... mainly because i love the new boost levels!!! So heavy right foot. I know it sounds silly but if your worried about fuel try coasting at every point possible. These cars are great for that as they are so heavy. They just keep rolling.

To meet 14.7-1 air/fuel mix ideal voltage is 0.45 as far as I know, lower is lean more is richer.0.9 is propper bad.

29.2 with my manual V70 R, but that is one good journeys, taking it easy on the gas cos it's my business mileage. At weekends, I'm usually down to 22-25.

My 850r manual has averaged 26-28mpg for commuting consistantly for the last 6 months. thats a 10 mile (one way)mixed drive to work everyday. I dont take it easy either. I put £20 worth of normal petrol in (with the light on)to cover the 100 mile commute. It gets to mid 30's on a good run.

Even when giving it a good work out on weekends it never consumes excessive amounts, unlike my old 300zx which would do 10mpg all week (every week)and 750i(12mpg) .

This one is meant to have a rica 304 but ive no proof. What it has got is a turbo back 3" stainless system with de-cat built in (its all one peice from the turbo) and a ITG panel filter. It runs on shell helix ultra 5w30 now which has seemed to make the petrol last even longer.

But i have noticed mine drinks v-power like theres no tomorrow which means it only gets it as a special treat which is a shame because it makes a huge difference.

Was that a reset just before you set off? My 29.2 is since I collected the car from the bodyshop, including the RR day etc. This car is so much more economical than my laser AWD, it's great.

I had a steady drive to skegness in my p1 v70 t5 auto and averaged 42mpg! When i got there said i had 550 miles range left on the full tank! Didn't stay that high for long though thanks to a chav in a corsa giving me and the Mrs a dirty looked as they overtook. I was TOLD to overtake them lol.

Well been bedding the new engine in today, had complete car full and shopping (7seater) didnt go over 4,000rpm and kept her under 14.7 psi steady 50 mile round trip between 65-75 few stop starts in and out of car parks and achieved 32mpg.

New lump seems to be bedding in nicely , be interesting to see what the mpg will be like when the blues are fitted

I'm a bit of classic rock fan, would that make a differance?

Sorry I know what you mean, the plugs, leads, cap & rotor have about 20k on them, a clean ITG filter, I've checked all the usual air leak spots, I take the Maf out every now and then and carefully clean the edge of the blade.

Right, I had a 13 mile town run to Chesterfield, with one 3 mile de-restricted stretch, I got 22.7. Sheffield to Manchester terminal 3 via A roads, got 27.1, however the conditions certainly affected the weight of my right foot. What could've been causing the issue was the air intake from the front of rad had disconnected behind the rad, and the connection to the box. Turbo seems to be whining a little more happily now as well. However, since I got it back from it's mega service, boost only ever hits 1/4 into white and quickly fades to about 1/5 with WOT. I'm guessing the actuator rod spring is getting tired. This probably warrants another thread though, after I've had a tinker... Will report back with the MPG from the M1 run on Wednesday.

Note the trip computer and the MPG - not bad for a great wobbly lump with over 195k on the clock :D

MPG would have been higher but I got bored on the A31 ;)

That's why I'm not too worried about the receipts for over £3k in 18 months I have in a box ;)

Still a bloody brilliant car (now)
