It was only serviced 3k ago, so all should be fine. How does hlm ecu compare to rica ecu's?

The standard maps are very similar, as are a few of the normal off the shelf maps. But hlm sell the ecus for the 850s and s/v70s for £150 if you trade yours in, or at leats they used to.

Thats if yours is the motronic ecu and not the me7 on the later cars.

I'm not up on dates, does it have a throttle cable coming over the top of the engine?

Mines ME7 1998.....not sure if that was the change over year.

As M R P said, easy way is just to see if it has a throttle cable, if it has then its the motronic 4.4ecu and you can get the cheaper ecu.

Yep, £150. They can even post the tuned ecu to you and you just send them your old one (they can't send you a rolling road tho... postage for those is about a grand lol)

You pay £263 inc p&p

Once the ecu arrives and you for it you send your standard ecu to hlm, then they refund you £100

HLM ecu and make sure everything is running as it should be.
I agree with this option, and i can vouch for the HLM tune my beastie was done by them worth every penny.
When your service was done did you have auto box fluid changed? if not do as it can make a difference on its own.(i had one once, but saw the light and a manual). Just my ten pence worth.

I will check the history to see ehen the box fluid was last changed. Whats the normal interval? Also i presume to change the ecu is straight forward?
