Just plug into the cigarette lighter socket and place unit on the dashboard using the supplied braket and suction cups on the windscreen or the velcro-like stickers. The optional laser detector plugs into the back of the unit and is then suckered to the windscreen. They will not work properly (or at all) if your car has a heated windscreen as the heating elements in the glass interfere with the GPS signal from the satellites.
I have had one for nearly 3 years and it has defintely saved me from some of the well hidden cameras.
