Hi Guys

Im after any pics of the S40 Touring car from the 1997 BTCC. Ive googled every single relevant phrase i can think of but still cant find very many. Loads of 98-99 in the silver and blue livery but i am after the original white blue and yellow colours.

Anything you can find would be great.

Cheers

Jonny

Theres an s40 with the decals on that i see occasionally near where i live, just a 2.0l though. and looking a bit sorry for itself, unfortunatly.

very nice, chassis number 001. I noticed in your intro thread you said its got engine issues, is it still the original TWR engine as even the Belgium race team said they had problems sourcing parts so wondered if they'd swopped to a modified production engine

the engine is original in 97 spec. the car goes very well indeed but engine life is 1500km between rebuilds. im not going to take any chances so ill be refreshing valves shells and rings before going anywhere near a track

well very interested to see any pictures of some of the detail of the car, ie under the hood, interior, suspension if you don't mind posting/sharing them. Are you intending to put it into a race series or just use it as the best track toy you could want lol

I havent seen the car in two months as its sat in a mates workshop but there are a few here that i took when i picked it up. Hope to get it ready to race at the Silverstone Classic next year but realistically im not going to have time so may run my Cavalier instead.

Mega!! I may well have to ask you for some dimensions when the time comes to re sticker it. Ran it up today in the workshop....such a special piece of kit, really need to see it to appreciate the amount of detail....TWR were the daddies

No problem, I got the bumper off a guy who did work experience with TWR & saved it from the skip. Only cost me £100.

July 1997 Auto express magazine has a four page spread comparing one of the blue/white TWR S40's & a stickered up 2.0 road car. Quite a few pictures that may be of use.

Would they bolt straight up to a P1 S40 or are mountings, fitting etc all different?

the TWR bumper i put on my 850 was based on a standard factory top half, it was purely a lower skirt that screwed over the top by the vents (the S40 one does look like its done the same). I did have to cut quite alot of the flat undertray away to clear the subframe
