Morning Guys, My V70 (135,000 on clock) was loosing drive for a moment or two between 2nd & 3rd - I checked around having seen Dextron IIE Auto gear box fluid specified in the manual. Was told by local garage that they always use standard Dex II - Now i'm told this will toast the box!!!! Fluid was changed a month back & now it slips from cold but shows no codes..........Any ideas????????

Adding to my own post here - Had the gearbox oil replace at a specialists this morning, now filled with Dextron 6 - apparently no sign of metal deposits on the magnetic plug so fingers crossed.

Dextron 6 ????
If your gearbox is AW50-42, you need only Dextron III or II-E (as in the manual)

I doubt the plug is magnetised as there are actual magnets inside the gearbox itself.
If the gearbox slips, it's due to the friction plates going off, nothing metalic about those unless the metal plates are toast.
That will not let the car move - not slippages only.
