Hi

I have a noisy auxiliary belt or tensioner so I'm going to get both changed. The car is an 850R auto so what belt and tensioner is required? Also are there any other parts I should change whilst I'm there? Looking on partsforvolvos.com I don't know which belt I need.

Thanks,
Rich

the old belt should have the size of it written on it (if still visible)

It has a/c however there are still 2 choices depending on eninge code. Where can I see this?

Thanks

The engine number should be on the timing belt cover. It will have the engine code (like B5234T in the pic) and a serial/engine number is usually above it (565019 in the pic)

The difference in the belts is the amount of teeth, I cant remember the amounts but I know the later engines have more teeth, I will have a dig out of my info for you tomorrow

I wouldnt rule out the most common source of noise on these.... The power steering pump.

I replced the tensioner and alternator before realising it was the steering pump.

Hmm could be the pump actually as the steering goes from light to heavy....

Sorry to hijack but would the steering wheel not wanting to stay in the same place (going from normal to super light)when going around a long bend be a symptom of a faulty power steering pump? ive also got a noise coming from the same area.
