Yeah it's definitely the outside temp sensor plug. It should be clipped in somewhere.!

theirs a bracket bolted to the front of the front chassis rail

On my 850 the bracket is down by the corner of the radiator. Not sure about the x70 models though. Its just a strip of metal with a hole in, the tip of the sensor just clips in.
