Evening all,

Im having a few troubles with the electrics on my 855 R. The main problem is the orange light with the green triangle in the clocks has come on in the last few days. This seems to be linked to the starter motor not turning over properly when the cars hot and been left for a while. The dead lock feature on the central locking also seems to be linked as when the dead locks work and you get back into the car its a bitch to start, when the dead locks dont work the starter works as it should. I thought the starter motor was on its way out but im suspected some dodgy wiring somewere. I say the dash light is linked to the other faults because i was turning it over like crazy the other day and the starter seemed to be clonking and banging around, once started the light stayed on and is now on permanent. I had the same issue a few weeks back but the ABS light came on all day, that one went out though. :worried:

Im suspecting dodgy wiring after a quick look around, the main earth for the battery behind passenger headlight looks like it may be corroded as its turned green, but unsure if that could be causing these problems>? Car seems to be driving the same but I did notice a small puff of condensation/mist from the exhaust when pulling off first thing this morning, but to be fair it was rather cold this morning(coldest since ive had the car)and it only did it once when i pulled off with the engine stone cold. Everyones cars were smoking like mad this morning but it causght my eye as ive never noticed it before on the R.

Anyone have any ideas?

the orange with green triangle light is the emissions fault light, your best bet is to get the fault codes read otherwise you could spend ages guessing

Hmm yeah it says that in the handbook. Luckily i found a volvo specialist 5 mile down the road may be worth popping it in for a session on their diagnostics. Will have a light tinker sunday first thow if know body here knows whats up with it, see if there is anything obvious wrong.

yeah gona get busy with that earth as it looks nasty from what i can see. Its mostly hidden under the hid ballast (which has been mounted over it) but i can see the start of the metal and its completely green. Both sides of the car behind the headlights are in poor condition tbh, havent had the chance to clean up yet. I will try the earth soon as ive read that can cause many things on these cars, if no luck there il take it for a diagnostic check as there is many little things it could be after searching the net...Just hope i dont end up having to change a lot of sensors like your mate nottsgreent5!!
