My Garage Invoice has arrived....

Those of you following my posts recently will know that my 2001 T5 went into an Indy garage for a about a week and a half to have a new Driveshaft fitted, new brake pads and new suspension parts. Well, the invoice has arrived and I nearly fell off my chair when I read it, well see for yourself..............

look at it another way. how much do you think you'd of paid for that work to be done at a main stealer considering 7.25hrs labour?

Honestly mate, that's about right, I would have predicted 100 quid either way.
Depends on region and parts used.

£551 labour according to the rates at my local Volvo Stealers.

Yeah, I've looked up the price of the parts and it's not far out. Just to add insult to injury, I'm taking the car to ATS Euromaster on Friday to have all the wheels laser aligned and balanced - cost £83! But I want to see if I can get to the bottom of why the car seems to 'shake like a deprived smack head' everytime I get to to 60/70mph..... ;)

Yeah, that's what I thought. The price doesn't look too bad and a main stealer would have been close to a £1000 and wanted payment on the spot before I drove the car away. Thing is, the car ain't finished yet, I've got a real hankering to get the brake pads changed on the rear, the discs done front and back, new shocks all round and then, just then, I might be satisified.... :D

Oh I forgot to say, then I wage war on the cosmetic stuff like the car park dents, roof scratches (someone carried lots on the roof before I had the car), the rusty wing, the peeling lacquer and the bumper scuffs, the scruffy wheels (gonna get new ones as one is buckled), and the poor paint job done by a cowboy bodyshop courtesy of owner number 1.

Other than that it's not too bad! :D :hihi:

That's what I thought, but the shaking for worse on the front when I swapped the buckled wheel on the back along with the wheel on the other side. The guy at ATS said it's only slight but he could see it moving up and down on the machine.

I would still rule it out by swapping it with the spare and taking it for a spin.

All 4 are buckled apparantly and my spare is a space saver with a mximum speed of 50mph.

Ive just paid out £350 for repairs today...but £170 of that was parts including a lower arm, rear handbrake shoes and new handbrake cables, and fitting the AWD R suspension all round...plus MOT which was £50 (so £300 to sort her all out for MOT) labour charge was £85 for 3 hours work.....not bad considering they did a great job.

ITS THE DREADED VAT THATS THE KILLER £50 TODAY :-(
