steveT5

Yep the people with the 19t turbos do around 13.5's i think

Wobbly Dave
Saturday 1st October 2005, 00:21
I will be quite happy in low 14s. This doesnt take account of the major issue - name;y the big nut behind the steering wheel?!! I think 13.5 is a little optimistic?

Standard T5 times are around 15.5s - bit like me both my waist and the T5 have weight issues.

Andrew
Saturday 1st October 2005, 00:28
You have to remember T5s where not built for 1/4 runs. More 1->4 miles runs :)

I was just taking into account the fact that Justin ran low 14s in April with Rica and an itg filter. Yes, i know that J's reaction time and launch were spot on to get such a good time.
For the big bucks that the 19t and custom map costs i would expect the car to be capable of mid 13s, as some members have proven.
I am merely suggesting what the car should be capable of and not allowing for driver error, as the first question i replyed to was what will an s60 t5 do?
In the right hands i would have thought very early 15s for sure.
Thanks
Steve

I have gone into these things before believing that I could scorch the clock and have been disappointed so this time I wanna just see.

Anyway you look at it Volvos are heavy cars, Turbos need a while to spin up etc and every Millisecond and lb counts on the 1/4 mile.

I still insist 1/4 mile for Volvos is usually a waste of time and should be just a bit of fun not taken seriously.

Gary (Siamblue) had come up the previous day and crashed at mine to make it easier to get to the track. We got there just before 10am. With it being Jap Car Race day there was wall to wall scooby/evo/skyline. Quickest Jap car I saw was a Skyline which did a 10.8 @ well over 130 mph!!
I saw Scooby555 (who now has a VF sticker!) with his S60 T5 and later Karl with his Rica'd V70 2.5.
Spesh turned in after a long night around 11:30 who came up with his mates. One sporting a very quick Astra turbo (13.4) and his other mate with the 200SX.

I fluffed up my first 2 runs - predominantly through setting up too many RPMs - firstly I spun the clutch in 2nd and hit the side of the gate going from 2nd to 3rd.
By lunchtime I was a bit miffed. I had only got 14.8 @ 98.8 - not even a good 60Ft to speak of.

Had a break and I let Gary have a go and he drove mine to 14.94 @ 101.79mph

The next run I gave it a bit less from the line - nearer 2200rpm - got my PB (me driving) of 14.68 @ 98.67 (2.41 to 60Ft)

Not a complete disaster.

Anyway best results of the day for the C70 are the two runs with a certain Welsh chap driving....
14.27 @ 104.40mph (2.53 - 60Ft)
14.17 @ 103.07mph (2.37 - 60Ft)

The lad definately has a touch that I don't seem to be able to capture. I will let Spesh tell you about his results.

My clutch doesnt like doing power changes. Will look to uprate it on the next change.

I am a little disappointed I couldnt do the times myself - but I will keep trying.

Hi Peeps, Had a great day out even though my car was running like a dog with Lambda light on as the hose on top of the turbo just doesn't want to stay on,
Lots of nice cars there yesterday, I do not like Scoobys but love the Evo's and the skylines,
I had 4 runs all day my best run was when the hose came off again and i had to coast the last 50 yards over the line which p'ed me off, 15.5 reaction .35 and speed of 82 mph.
Great to see you Damien, nice nice engine if you ever want to sell it i have a lovely looking car it could go in lol ;)

Someone from the BRISKODA forum went in an Octavia with a REVO i think. 210hp and did a 15.5. He said he spotted a C70 from chiptuning ?!?!

Dave - are you still wearing the stickers ?!!?

P.S Siam, was it a Fabia you saw ?? I think i am the 2nd fastest on the 1/4 from those that post - somone got a 14.7 though, i think it had a different turbo FMIC etc etc circa 200hp, 325 lb/ft :)

Sounds like a fun day!

WD - "The lad definately has a touch that I don't seem to be able to capture. I will let Spesh tell you about his results." - Might be also something to do with the fact that Spesh weighs as much as a wet sock!, that's got to help! (Apart from his uncanny nack of getting cars away from standstill - probably something to do with his joy-riding days? ;))

I didnt have the stickers on but I did attach the number plates. A few peeps asked me about chip tuning which was good.

Never! Wouldn't be so rude! ;)
It's just that Spesh seems to show great results in any car - so, it must all be down to him being the size of Kate Moss' rib!!! ;) Could be intonations there of performance-enhancing drugs??? (and I don't mean Strongbow!:))
