Hi guys and gals,

When I have the ECC on and come to a stop, i can faintly smell oil (of sorts).
Is there an oil seperator or canister that may be blocked?

Cant smell anything when moving along.

Cheers,

I have the same, but it stinks of petrol rather than oil? I took it to my specialist (Charlwood Volvo @ Gatwick) and he investigated it and changed the pollen filter - it's not quite as bad now but it does still stink (not that i mind too much, I like petrol!).

Yeah it is a petrol/oil smell.. Im not convinced that the pollen filter is the culprit. The engine doesn't breathe heavily so Im looking for a blocked crankcase breather or something. I spoke with my local dealer who asked if the firetrap had been removed? whatever the hell that it !! they say they remove these as a matter of course during services now. I think they were hinting that I book in for a service. I think I'll draw on everyone's experience first. :B_steerin

Take it to Hamish at Vt for the service saved me a fortune not going to a dealer plus hes only five minutes down the road for you.

Hi, I'm not too technical, but I do remember my specialist mentioning something to do with the crankcase breather system, but then went on to say that it wasn't the cause. My pollen filter needed changing though, so thats OK.

If you find out what the cause of the petrol/oil smell is, I'd really appreciate you letting me know! Ta!
