Hi All,

Apologies for the short notice but the Forum will be inaccessible between 01:00 and 03:30 tonight. (Saturday 14th July).

This is for essential maintenance on the database and the upgrade of components used by this forum.

We will hopefully be finished before 03:30.

Many thanks

Hi All,

The site is now back with some slight changes, this is the result of certain components either being upgraded or replaced. (Actually every component has either been upgraded or replaced).

This now gives us a platform to which we can build on :-)

Site performance will be slower than expected today due to index rebuilding.

Firstly my apologies for not writing this post sooner, I was slightly tired.

OK so you may have seen a few changes on the site. Last night/this morning we did an upgrade/replacement of all of the sites components. This was the end of quite a long build and testing phase.

The main change was the VBulletin3 to VBulletin4 upgrade. VBulletin3 is quite old now and moving forward we needed to upgrade. (If you use other VBulletin based forums you may have noticed similar changes). This upgrade alone attributes to most of the usage changes on this site. (Which now includes a specific mobile interface).

This site uses quite a few 3rd party components which all required attention, many have been upgraded, modified or replaced by components that did a similar job as before. Flashchat is gone as Flash support is dwindling. This has been replaced by a new chat system which is currently running as beta. (The production release will be pure realtime and have video conferencing and file sharing capabilities.)

The forum is around 98% there with a few minor tweaks underneath and some design work required to get to 100%.

Please if you spot any issues let us know.

Cheers

Rich
