Just read this on VS, looks simple enough.

only concern is the welding aspect, i've made my bbk and been looking into making a plate in essence similar that bolts up rather than weld.

When I looked at the bracket, I couldn't see why it needs to be welded one hole used the original mount, and a bolt could be used for the other one.

As long as the weld has penetrated both parts then it should be as strong enough to take the forces when braking hard.

There can be problems with differing expansion rates of the cast carrier and bracket cracking the welds.

Tim, do you think tha plate would need to be welded on?

TBH not to mention the impacts and vibrations the hubs take. I think i'd take my chances with the unwelded plates or maybe bolt up then safety weld may be a compromise

i was using the original 280mm t5 calipers and moving further out.

i used 336mm xc90 discs with 4 pots brembos, and think they will fit under comets.

I rekon i could improve that bracket by making it bolt on. Bracket would be drawn on cad then laser profiled then machined so it can be bolted on. Me personly i wouldnt weld two different materials togrther with out any spec. For all we know it could crack after welding. Beleve me it happens a lot

Looking at it just in the pic it does look like it could be just bolted.

If i can get a hub caliper and disc then no problem. Main problem is i dont have time to go hunting around scrap yards. Or the funds at minute. am sure the hub and disc are easy to get mits on.

have emailed a volvo breaker for a price of calipers and discs. i think the way forward here is to see how many people would be intrested in the brackets.

How are / did you get on with that?

Seems as though there a few people who are now looking to do brake upgrades?

I could use 324mm discs hope fully behind my 16 inch alloys if not will be smaller discs or bigger wheels to suit the large discs.I will be making some up over summer.I thought it might be a sugestion for you lot with the T5s playing about with carriers and instead just make some brackets up.I didnt pay alot for my calipers either.

I've hit xc90 308mm rears (vented) and the 320mm to fit to the gul, just needs doing, it will get done soon-ish.

Your using XC90's up front too?

Be good to hear how you get on.

Next Mods (after the 4.4 ECU) are back to handling and stopping. Car goes pretty good now, so looking at Brakes and Limited Slip Diff next. I've got 302 up front, but the whole system needs new hoses and an overhaul so may as well do an upgrade at the same time.

Xc90 rears and c70 fronts (late)

Xc90 fronts are 316 or 336 fronts

However I've made up some 316mm fronts

Those 320 adaptors from DVS use S40/V50 callipers and rotors. I imagine it would be fairly cheap to get hold of those parts.

I actually have them and the calipers late c70, is easiest as there is only one type, all the others st,s40 etc have multiple types of calipers and hangers as they do 305mm etc

Sorry, edited as I was a dimwit and didn't read your post properly.

Be good to here how they are when you gottem on.

When you say late, late as in somewhere around my2002 or from the later model my2006 onwards? (may have the manufacturing years wrong)

I think he means the 06+ C70. The P80 C70 will have the same calipers as your car ;)

Hi there all,
I figured I'd stick my head in here and offer (hopefully) some useful insight into the 320mm conversion.

A conversion to 320mm brakes is pretty simple and actually requires very minimal machining work, etc.

The calipers and rotors that you're looking for can be found on P1 S40/V50 T5 AWD models, as well as new style C70 and LS-LV Ford Focus ST (we call the ST an XR5 over here).

You make use of the S40/V50 T5 AWD rotor, caliper and caliper hanger and use the brake line from a P80 1997-2000 V70R with 302mm brakes.

The rotor needs to have the centrebore machined out to 68mm and one of the M12 threaded holes in the caliper hanger needs to be drilled out to 12mm and countersunk to allow the use of the adaptor between the hub assembly and the caliper hanger.
Other than that, it is a bolt on affair.

No problem. If you have any specific questions, please do let me know.
16" wheels, despite them fitting over the same calipers and rotors on an S40/V50, will not fit on the 850/C70/S70/V70 as the caliper is mounted slightly further outboard of the rotor - this was necessary to ensure it remained a bolt-on solution.

No worries. I need to get back to you too about a splitter. I've not forgotten. :)

Yes they will, though I don't have a pic of a Volan fitted - Titans are about the worst wheel as far as clearance goes.

Here's a Propus wheel fitted though -
