Thanks. Oh dear,it 's just come on,on the m1,after taking my daughter on a tour of her university.Sounds serious,is it?

Thought that was the lambda light, could be one of many things. Get your codes read before you replace anything though.

Not too serious, could be anything from knock sensor to boost pressure to TPS.

This may help you in other ways http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/1994/1994_850/94850_1_1.html

It means the ecu developed a problem, you just need to get the fault code red.

Either main dealer or an independent volvo garage.

You could try disconnecting the battery over night and see if that clears the fault. Some faults will clear after the car has been driven for 50 miles EG:- over boost, MAF and ABS wheel sensor

sounds like lambda light,
it may just have an air leak, that will put that light on,
check all the vac pipes that you can see,inc the one on the end of the inlet manifold (left) as you look as engine, between stat housing and manifold is a small gap you can see into, theres a small elbow hose, this splits and causes probs,

If it comes on again maybe take a trip over to Carpenters in West Molesey, they arn't a bad lot with plenty of experience in Volvo's

See nothing to worry about :) Our P2 has been running with that one on, and a full set of the others for weeks now. Some days everything lights up and others only the engine management light comes on.

But then it is Christine.
