Is the 19t the biggest direct bolt on turbo you can buy for the volvo? Or are there other companies which make larger turbos to fit? I know the 19 is the biggest from volvo but what about garret etc....& how much bother would they be to fit (ie much alterations?) Is anybody running a turbo larger than a 19t or similar but a different type?

As for the 19t, how much should I be paying for it ? Volvo quoted me approx £1000.00 for the turbo & downpipe.....does that seem ok? does anybody else know where they can be bought cheaper?? Volvo want my turbo & downpipe in return aswell the robbing gits :frown:

If I can get my paws on a 19 & downpipe without having to return mine, I can flog my 18, Downpipe with high flow cat on zee bay!!

I think RICA supply a super dooper hybrid jobbie as part of their Stage 3 conversion which is reported to knock out 400bhp+ on the T5 :insane:

As far as i am aware VT just put the cold side of a 19t and put it into a 15g exhaust housing so you can use the std downpipe (not sure though) ask them,i hope they dont because is not really a hybrid its worse lol.As far as Garrett etc they make massive turbos and they can be made to fit.The tricky part is the oil return line. You will need a T3 exhaust housing you can then machine the lip of the std exhaust manifold,it will be easier if you stick with with an internal gate and then pick housing sizes and wheel sizes depending on your HP goal.

Elliot,

I think you can only acheive 350ish max on a std engine anyway without forged internals etc.

Elliot, i have the only 19T "hybrid" using my 18T downpipe on my 98 V70R, why is it worse than a hybrid ?

I only said its worse if the they dont use the 19t exhaust housing because it has a 3inch angled outlet. If you have an angled 18T then great,if its a straight outlet 18t then its not as efficent as a 19T because the outlet is 2.75 and not angled, same as a 16T ,and the 15g is 2.5 inch. Also from my understanding the wheels havent be changed,i think its pushing it calling it a hybrid if thats the case, but a mix of two things is a hybrid i guess hehe. The great thing about it is though it allows people to use the std downpipe.

Ok, what wheels havent been changed ?

Ok so its not a hybrid, just a cheap way of having a 19t fitted i spose which was why i went for it, Well pleased too :)

i am not saying its not a hybrid because it is a mix of two turbos just not what people generally consider as one.As you have proved with your dyno runs it peforms so thats all that matters.

Why not go for a full blown Hybrid like mine from Turbo Technics...
Fits fine, runs great and comes with a 2 year warranty.

Yeah your right actually elliot, thats what a hybrid is....its going back for the map to be finished i will put the finished map dyno plot up when its done later this month :)

Mac the conversion is about £1600 ish if i remember right from VT, instead of £2500 for the full fat 19t upgrade :)

Justin, How come it costs £2500 for a full blown version?

Turbo is around £580-600
Downpipe is approx £450
Re-map £100

+ fitting

What else is needed???

What HP are you running?
How much did it cost?
Have you compared it to anybody elses car?
Is it a 19t + equiv?

Thanks,

Mac

I think a 16t is similar to a T28 so a 19t would probably be similar to a T3 but thats a long shot from memory!

Full 19T conversion would probably include a downpipe and race cat which are about £750 and the re-map will be a little bit more than £100 I would have thought!

Does your car not have a 19T fitted to it anyway?

If so then yeah £100 if not then you would need a full new map which im sure they charge more than £100.

A.Shock...

Mine has a 18 on it, it was the 1999 v70r awd that was fitted with the 19t.
The 265 hp standard version.

I already have the rica 310 so it would be a re-flash on that!
