i have a 97 850 t5 and was wondering does it matter if it manual or auto or the shafts the same? and can any others fit ie 2.5 tdi?

Manual and auto shafts will interchange, although one is thicker than the other.

auto ones are suppose to be stronger than manual ones

Providing they both have a 36mm Hub nut not the bolt then yes.

what about the shafts from a 2.5 tdi? ive seen they are listed as same but i dont know wether to believe it

That TDI shafts are the same gas the petrol

Thats strange, My shafts on the Manual are thinner than the auto?? perhaps they have been changed before.

maybe a daft question tim but where does that leave my t5auto..........thick or thin?.............not really worried just need a cv joint and as always need as much info as possible before ordering one
