Hi guys

Been tinkering some more with the intake:

Freed up a lot of room in the bay - planning to use the original airbox area for a dedicated Aquamist tank.

In the post is a stainless steel filter, to avoid oil issues.

Looks nice mate but a hope ye got loads and loads of redirected cold air pointing straight at that or you will be down in power simply coz of warm air induction

yeah, it sits directly infront of the air scoop on the front. Filter is cool to the touch after a hard run.

I'm not saying this is a good idea in traffic!

did anyone know that the MAF size is 80mm, but it reduces shortly after to 65mm ?

This does prove the OEM airbox not to be restrictive.

Taking bets on how many weeks before a light is thrown?

Why would it throw a light ?

I think vibration damage may be an issue, so am working on a damped bracket.

To be honest, I'm offended by the comments.

Any constructive criticism is welcome.

A had a cone on ma car for 30k miles and the light never came on...

Providing its a dry filter ye wont have any problems

If its an oil based filter the oil will be sooked into the MAF over time causing the light to come on probably leave you needing a new MAF

Mmmmmmm isn`t that one of those warm air filter thingys :slap: might have cold air rushing at it but it`s still gonna suck hot air in from the engine bay when your idleing or stuck in traffic :slap: better to leave the original volvo airbox in and just relace the filter with an itg one

Cheers

stuart

PS thats just my opinion and everyone can have there own

Chris, no need to take offence mate :)

Having heard a lot of talk about sucking hot air in, I did some fairly extensive testing on my car's intake temperatures with airbox / with cone, standing / rolling... and I run a cone on mine as a consequence.

Ma cone was a wee cheap £30 number but was totally enclosed apart from the cold air feeding directly into the end through a big pipe, it worked very well!!!!

yeah, I will get that problem !

I've done it mainly for the noise, boy racer it may be, but it doesn't sound like a Fiesta Turbo or anything ! :)

The recirc valve is very loud when you have the filter mounted directly on the MAF, that that was sucking in hot air.
