Yeh that includes two buckets and a years supply of microfibre towels lol. Well I got her done, looks §§§§ ha ha. Nice and shiny and a lot better than she was. Really was surprised at how much the clay bar picks up too.

However, still got swirls on her (someone tell me what I did wrong there) and will need redoing again as I forgot to get some tar remover and its surprising how much of the stuff you find. I also didnt have any mechanical device to aid me. But for a first attempt I am 70% happy with it.

This was her yesterday looking dull

And this is her loking a tad shinier

Ok that looks nice, and you dont need a tar remover if you are claying thats what the clay is for.
Without a machine polisher you are going to have a hard time removing your swirls, how did you apply your polish?
If you are going to attempt by hand you will struggle but it's possible, you do need to use a proper polishing hand pad, if you are applying your polish with a cloth it will make the paint shiny, but if anything you will be adding more swirls to your paint.
I'm not going to sit here and type all night telling you how to do this lol so have a good read of this. You shouldnt have much questions after this :)

Yes I am indeed. Still not 100% happy with it but I have to refrain from going OCD lol. Sun was glorious, got a bit too warm later on.

Yeh the clay removed some of it but there was loads and I didnt want to keep at it in case I did any damage seeing as it was a first job. I did the polish with a microfibre so probably added to them doh. Thanks for the link, WD suggested them too and I had a read before giving it a go. Guess I will need a polishing machine to get it right.

nice job ,do like your headlights

Cheers, yeh they look great, left one has a bit of condensation inside so might have to reseal if I can

Did you use spray paint? :)
Awesome job though fella.

Swirls marks are caused/ made worse, I find by doing a circular motion when applying wax or polish. I always go up and down or side to side. Especially on the bonnet. The OCD will kick in soon

Lol, no we didnt. It was that filthy, he hadn't cleaned it for a while. And no I didn't wax or polish in a circular motion, just up and down following the lines. As for the OCD, I am trying to resist. trying being the word.

why did the MG change colour?

It didnt, no jiggery pokery shinnanigans at all. I took the photos with my phone camera, same settings, lighting was the same (murky). I can only put it down to the car being that bad. Going to clean his Dads MG this weekend so will take some photos of that too.

looks good what polish and wax did you use

I used Zymol Natural car wash, Simoniz Polish and Simoniz Wax. Clay Bar was Meguiars.
