I had my remap done by HLM and I drove from Luton and never regreted it.
It is worth to travel further and get the job done by specialist and enthusiast.
Hamish done as many runs as i wanted him to do cause i have lpg fited and i wanted to test it on both fuels before and after remap.
Definitely will always recommend HLM.

As others have said - shop around, HLM is cheap for a remap and sounds steep for the exhaust, suspension with alignment - does that include the springs?

Like to see the break down of the prices, we all know a full custom exhaust can be expensive, Does that include a race cat?

Like to see the break down of the prices, we all know a full custom exhaust can be expensive, Does that include a race cat?

Full exhausts can be expensive. I was quoted £700 for a turbo back custom exhaust, with 100cell race cat. When i had my s70r.

gsxrboy
Tuesday 15th May 2012, 09:00
its a full turbo back system with sports cat, they originally quoted 299 for springs inc fitting and alignment, 499 for remap inc before and after dyno runs, and any runds to tweek the setup, and 895 for the exhaust. and it will cost me about £3 in fuel to get there and back. i factor in travel costs. also i don't have to take time off and as i'm self employed one day off is £200, so another factor to consider :)

gsxrboy
Tuesday 15th May 2012, 09:01

depends on factors as i've listed :)

I'm certainly glad I can do all my own work, I could no way justify that sort of money on an old volvo.

i would if i could, i do modify my bikes and do all the work with the exception of spraying, most work is bolt on but i have modified a frame in the past, not a task to be taken lightly. but, in doing own work there are no warranties etc, so peace of mind comes at a cost i guess. :)

gsxrboy
Tuesday 15th May 2012, 12:26

so what would you see as a reasonable quote for all that work?

Saturday 26th May 2012, 14:03
first dyno run was with the new exhaust but standard map. 241bhp. after re map 286bhp and 357ft lb torque. will post printout up when i get to a pc. was running 95 Ron fuel and it was a tad warm yesterday :-)

that some serious torque figures for just a map

LiamT4
Sunday 27th May 2012, 19:35
Thats a hell of a torque increase. Surely you had more than just a map and exhaust to get an extra 110lb/ft?

Sunday 27th May 2012, 19:38
Well done mate, looks like it was worth the Doller.

T5frankie
Sunday 27th May 2012, 19:44
usually you need an map and an mbc to get that torque figure, thats the same as my 19t with full straight through exhaust running at 18 psi with an mbc

gsxrboy
Sunday 27th May 2012, 19:55
just remap and full exhaust, that's all. they suggested i get an intercooler to combat heat soak. but for now it'll do :D
it's hitting 16/17psi.

i plan too, although driving it tonight its not boosting as much as it had since the re map, might invest in new hoses.

higher boost will pop hoses off every now and then same thing happened to mine, the one on top of the turbo was loose no wonder i was only getting 6 psi lol and not being able to overtake diesels lol

gsxrboy
Thursday 21st June 2012, 10:23
well, i've ordered an mbc, my boost reappeared again yesterday like it did last friday, but was back to standard today so the tcv is being bypassed and we'll see if that was the problem.

gsxrboy
Thursday 28th June 2012, 10:07
well fc uk my luck, the day after i fitted the mbc my boost vanished, underbonnet checks revealed plastic hose popped off from airbox to turbo, so re-attached it, boost back again..yay. today, back down to 10psi ffs. can't see any detached hoses this time, i'm considering just going back to my 540i!!

after much skinning of knuckles i can say my waster gate is working normally so the only thing that is causing my intermitant boost loss is the recirc valve, so it's coming off a a forge dump valve is going on :)
