started the paint corrction today. started with the roof. i found this hard work and im still not 100% happy with it. theres some pretty deep scratches. i rekon a prevous owner has used the roof as a table. the rest seems to of come up better though. i still need to do the rear bumper and sills. im getting the bonnet and front bumper resprayed so didnt go mad with these. overall im happy with the finish and hopfully on manday ill be ready to start adding my various blackfire products

Clarity looks really top notch so far. Did you manage to get rid of all the defects? No matter how hard I try it never seems possible to get the paint utterly flat. Always seem to be left with really fine lines. Is that your experience too?

the roof is proofing to be very tough. i tempted to try a tougher pad with more cutting action, ive had two gose at it so far. the drivers side of roof is spotless but the passanger side dose have a few lines. theres still a few scratches that i cant get rid of. ill try and get some pics with the halogen lights on tomora.

what i have noticed not sure if youll agree but the volvo pait is super soft ans is so easy to scare.not sure if thats correct wording but i no what i mean

My experience is quite the opposite. I found that it is very difficult to get rid of the really fine lines.

I'm with you there I have never managed to get rid of the really fine lines, I dont know how to, no matter how much I hit a panel, there will still be 1 or 2 lines. Sometimes wiping the panel with your cloths will put lines back into the paint

I find glazing helps a lot but I guess there is a limit particularly on a car that gets used all the time. I guess if it was some uber rare sport car it might matter some.

truth be known it prob dosnt need a glaze. guess a glaze just helps when car hasnt been polished and preped correctly. its chucking it down so got nothing done. last night i put a layer of all paint protection on roof. heres a beading shot. http://i1240.photobucket.com/albums/gg483/gwexhausts/20120429_140133.jpg

I use glaze as a last step b4 putting the sealant on. There are also AIO products that do both steps.

Good beading - it will get better once the hydrophobic layer (wax) is applied.

think the roof is going to get polished again. i know it just bug me if i see the odd mark when the sun hits it.

we use 3m product at work for paintwork correction on restos etc, the method i use is to use a 2000 wet and dry with a block on deep scratches then use a trizact pad (a 3000 grade 6 inch round pad) dipped in water and used on a d/a with a rotating oscillation of less than 3mm. this will take the peel out of the paint to "mirror it" then i use a mop with 3m fast cut green top, 3 hits to get it quite warm, then two hits of fast cut plus yellow top with a waffle mop head, then a single hit with blue top finishing polish and waffle then red top glaze. (all 3m product).

each to their own but i dont use a lambswool mop head as gets too hot to quick and leaves halo's

Actually, Volvo paint is a medium grade hardness paint and not that easy to marr or scratch.

Your results so far look good.
