Just read a great article on Ashoks 400+ bhp T4 in Practical Performance Car magazine. It's a great read and a good advert for Volvo tuning in general. Sell your T5's boys, T4's are the dogs danglies Mwahahaha

That must make T5's the present :)

but you're right in the future... an extra cylinder will mean you own a T4 bu ha ha

Fred is pretty rapid once he gets going, quicker than a T5 up the 1/4 probably

I've never driven a 'non ford' T5 so I wouldn't know how they handle.

What I do know is when you modify the P.2 ford platform with all the suspension mods it properly handles (I mean.. insanity level cornering).... enough to make your face look like this after a good bit of the windy schizzles.

It also makes the faces of those you follow in cars that supposedly handle great look like this:

http://assetscomau1.wordansassets.com/wordansfiles/images/2011/1/11/62203/62203_340.jpg?1294762280

Have to say (no offence intended lance) that the stock settings on mine (with sports suspension) were distinctly on the flobberly dobberly side till I got it modded and although stable fairly inert and didn't inspire confidence (I was running P6000's at that time mind.)

PS I'm completely drink and drugs free in case you were wondering.

I've owned an driven 850s standard and modified phase 1 and 2 7o series plus driven loads of s60s and driven old s40s and even as standard mine feels far better yes it could be better but its a road car that occasionally get used as a builders van and does a fair few speed humps. Not got 400 bhp but nearly 2/3 will do

But two car mags in a week....... i'll be bankrupt at this rate.

lance
Saturday 28th April 2012, 22:03
Yeah I bought it today it's an interesting mag, there previous buyers guides convinced me to buy an xjr and then an s4 but I still end up back in a Volvo. Ashoks is an impressive car and story of long term ownership and quest for power achieved can't imagine what it's like to drive to 9500 rpm not sure I would want a motorbike experience lol

Is it a turbo back exhaust?

I found that the FMIC upgrade felt pretty significant from a stock car on a remap.

Got the turbo back downpipe later, found that although the midrange wasn't much fatter that the top end 'zing' between 5 to 6.5k was much improved.

an essential is changing the BOV to a forge item with the yellow spring - you'll hold 2psi more in the mid range (stock one leaks above 15psi) so you'll really notice the difference.

Same goes for the vibratechnics gearbox mount (or alternatively try the Focus RS one if you don't like engine vibration.) small thing but really cuts the wheel spin and improves the handling.

Yes it's from the turbo back I think it's a Jetex system

Slightly in places and a lot of that down to me. Im certain only 2 Volvos overtook me judge ninja who is a true vetron of Volvo track days and wobbly who's car is well set up for the job. I was suffering brake fade and heat soak which my ic will sort. I had an 850r which had updated suspension and while it was good in terms of handling try playing a cd without it jumping plus Im sure it wouldn't have been anywhere near as quick on the track.

Yes I think that's about the limit it's a KKk unit I believe and the same as focus st the rs upgrade is the next one but I am going to enjoy this one for now I'm sure it's more than enough for the fwd and stock suspension brakes etc
