Can anyone recommend somebody in South Wales who has the equipment and the necessary expertise to check the SRS on my car? Took it to some guy in Cardiff today, who had 3 diagnostic hand-held devices but none of them was able to check what was wrong or reset anything (But he didn't charge me so I didn't mind). Spoke to another mobile guy who said he'd diagnose my car for £30 but he didn't sound that confident either.
Thanks.

98 or 99MY (does it have throttle cable)

Ideally you need to find someone with BSR reader (if 99MY, 2 years ago these changed hands for 50-80 quid, now 200+ if you are lucky),or otherwise someone with VCT or DICE (www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-Vida-Dice-Diagnostic-Tool-version-2011-D-UK-/150776608068)

some garages have the Autologic Code reader that reads the ME7 SRS codes, not sure about 4.4, if its 98 MY, then you can get the VOL-FCR off Ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-Diagnostic-Fault-Reader-ABS-AIRBAG-Reset-Tool-OBD-/200748856343) for about 20 quid, which is less than cost for garage to do a singe code read

edit -----------

98MY -4.4 will have throttle cable - VOL-FCR is cheapest option
99MY - ME7 No throttle cable - VCT/VADIS or DICE/VIDA or BSR PPC

Most likely is your SIPS bag in the shoulder of 1 of the seats.

I have spare seats in dark grey leather if you need them. My SRS light plagued me for years until I changed the seat.

Get your codes read & then let me know.

Thanks for the replies guys. It is the earlier type with the throttle cable.

Some time back I bought a ELM 327 module and a few programs to read trouble codes.

I downloaded a copy of Vol-FCR and it won't connect with my car. The other programs I have on my PC (ScanTool, Digimoto Lite, ScanMaster (DEMO), wOBD, OBD2Spy, EasyObdII) will all connect, but they have no SRS reset facility. It is a Vol-FCR DEMO copy anyway which says that the Service Light Reset and SRS reset aren't enabled.

One thing I have noticed is that the SRS light comes on at position 1, with no other lights.

What else can I do? Have looked on e-bay and there are a couple of gadgets but one advises to download Vol-FCR (which will obviously only be a DEMO copy).

Shame - I bet it is still the SIPS bag mind.
