I thought to myself, all proper race teams have a service barge, so why can't I have one? :)

Got this the other day, 2 owners from new, and a very good price
Its a Whitacres conversion, I've not seen another one like it

Plans are to get the seats and tracking out, strip an old caravan and then work out what fits where, it will been a 2 berth, with cooker, fridge, sink and hopefully, a loo and finally sticker up to match the volvo.

Hope I've posted in the right section?

Thats the idea :D but, I might buy an LPG vapour tank, to save me carrying a gas bottle (saves room to)

Reminded me of what a mate has done. He's got one of these...
http://www.tonvehiclesales.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/c10pocket.jpg
Bought a knackered caravan and converted the lorry into a huge campervan. The front end of the box section is a fully fitted bathroom inc. shower, toilet and sink. Going back the next part is a fully fitted kitchen (no washer/dishwasher though lol). Next are some moveable partitions and a rolled up carpet with some fold up furniture/camp bed etc. This is because he puts his Willys Jeep in the back (has ramps up to the rear). In the side he has a door and a movable set of steps plus the windows out of the caravan. It's amazing to look at - have no pics unfortunately. It's even classed as a campervan on the V5 lol. He does WWII shows etc. and uses it to travel around the country. To look inside its just like a self contained flat.

Thats smart, my mate has an LT35 converted van, which sort of helped me to decide to make a camper.

Done some more work to the race van, due to a leaking skylight, the floor had become spongy, fitted a new floor, with insulation underneath it, the floor was in great condition, better than a transit! ;)

Small update, the camper is now all registered as a Motor Caravan with the DVLA :)

Now has the on-board tanks fitted, both water and gas.

Finally got round to servicing her today, and fitted new front shocks, much less bouncy :) also found two pints of water in the airbox! Very lucky none got in the engine, fixed the problem, fitted a cone filter! It sounds like a V8 now!! ;)

good work.

as an owner of a caravan, remember to get all water out of the water heater during winter via the drain plug on the outside vent lower corner. also run taps so pipes are run dry. also insulate round the water tank to prevent frost damage as these heaters split really easily if frost gets to them. or buy the fluid that you can fill the system with to prevent frost damage.

also as your running gas inside and people will be sleeping in it i'd advise a gas test to make sure there is no leaks or carbon monoxide getting into the van from the heater or fridge vents. (silent killer) fit a carbon monoxide alarm inside also. most caravan places charge around £40 for this test but its worth it i say. a gas safe fitter can't do the checks as lpg requires different registration to carry out these checks.

loving the porta loo but if you come across one the thetford cassette toilet can be bought for around £50 and makes life much more pleasant on sites when you need to empty.

hope the info is useful for you.

Thanks Streaky :)

Lucky I haven't put any water on-board yet, well, just enough to test, then it was drained back down, all the kitchen bits came out of my old caravan, so I'm use to winter prep :)

Its been gas tested too, the gas fitter fits lpg systems into mobile homes and caravans, so its all lok, I have a carbon monoxdide detector to fit, in the next set of improvements, which will be done before I use it.

Had a cassette loo in the old ''van, was going to fit it, but it was too long to fit in the space I had left, its better than nothing! :)
