what does this do?

i was sorting out my old seats today so i can take them to local tip.
as i moved the drivers seat the coin holder came off and i found this underneath so i took off the passenger coin holder and there was another one behind that
what are they and what do they do?
just in case anyone is confused i'm talking about the red piece of plastic clipped to the coin holders

its to stop the airbag in the seat going off, it goes over the sensor for if you was to take the seat out :)

Cover to slot between the the side airbag detenator and the impact plate in the case of accidental impact..
