Timing help!! Arghhhhhhhh

Hi guys, I have hit a problem I hope someone can help with.

I'm in the process of timing up my T4 with new phase 1 hydro head rather than the vvt solid lifter head that was removed. We were going to use the P2 timing belt cover notches to time it up. the phase 2 cover won't fit at all so how can we be 100% on the timing as I don't have a phase 1 cover ATM.
